February is already here and for several months I wanted to give you an article on lip care. This winter, my skin and lips suffered particularly from the cold. I have always had chapped lips in winter, but not to the point of not rehydrating them with a simple Labello. Let’s be honest, having grooved lips and little pieces of skin coming off is not pretty. I then started looking for and testing a solution, and the choice is vast… I help you to see more clearly with the products I tested.
The exfoliating scrub
I chose to try The Kiss from Lush which is a blend of salt, sugar, cocoa butter and fine oil and tangerine. I just rub a small amount on dry lips and wipe off the excess with a damp towel. The lips are like new, even if they are damaged I find that it is an essential first step before applying a treatment. Besides, The Kiss just smells divine, we’d eat it (and it has this fabulous pink colour!).
We are used to regularly make masks on our face carefully avoiding the eyes and lips. So tried Sephora’s karate lips mask is a little confusing at first. Above all, it’s an “I can’t speak” 15-minute challenge! The mask is presented in the form of fabric soaked with the product to be left to pose. I really like the results. Lips are really moisturised and feel softer. I try to use it once a week to boost the effect.
On a daily basis, my lips need to be more or less moisturized ALL THE TIME. Horrible. So I tried everything, Bepenten, Caudalie lip balm (3 tubes in 2 months…) and so on. I have been using Lanolips balm for 2 weeks now and I have to say that it works quite well. It comes in the form of a very thick and concentrated gel that melts in the heat of the lips to become a kind of oil.
Am I done with the pain of cracking lips? Not totally, I believe that the best remedy remains a good weather. So, stay strong, only 2 months before spring!
